Lessons are always customized for your skill level and for what YOU want to learn. Whether you want to learn business English, conversational English, grammar, English for specific purposes or if you need any writing in English edited, I can create lessons for what you would like to learn. Most of my students prefer a variety of exercises and topics, but we can customize this for your needs.
Lesson pricing begins at $30 for 45 minutes. The 60-minute lesson is $40, the 75-minute is $50 and the 90-minute lesson is $60. I recommend beginning with the 60-Minute lesson since this gives us enough time to engage in dialogue, review homework, practice grammar and pronunciation exercises, and to answer any questions. All payments are secure and processed through PayPal.
Yes! I encourage you to schedule the free 15-minute consultation with me. In our consultation, I can assess your current skill level in English and what areas need improvement. During this time, we can discuss what your goals are and what topics you would like to work on. The consultation also allows you to hear about my teaching style and gives us an opportunity to meet face-to-face prior to our lessons.
First, review what is included in a lesson on the "Services" page of this website and then click the button that reads, "Schedule Lesson". Then, follow the simple directions there to request a time and to supply payment. All lessons must be paid for in advance prior to the actual lesson date.
Zoom is our video-conferencing system that we use for our lessons. Downloading is very easy. Simply go to https://zoom.us/download and download "Zoom Client for Meetings". When we confirm our lesson meeting date and time, I will send you a Zoom meeting invitation. At the time of our lesson, you will simply click on this invitation and you will be automatically connected to our video lesson.
Yes, we can use Skype if you do not care to have the whiteboard or recording features. However, with Zoom, we can 1). view the same document at the same time 2). use the whiteboard with pointing and highlighting tools and 3). record the lesson to re-play later for your extra practice. Therefore, Zoom is preferred and recommended over Skype.
No, not at all. However, a headset or earphones can be helpful since they block out background noise and can help you stay more focused. The minimum requirement is to have decent Internet connection, built-in speakers and a microphone on the computer or laptop. Most recently-purchased computers and laptops come with built-in speakers and microphones.
Prior to starting lessons with me, I will send you access to our virtual "classroom" and to Google Drive for our lesson notes. Once you accept the invitation to them, you can access them at any time.
Yes. We can still have lessons if you don't have a camera on your computer, although we MUST have sound. Although, using a webcam is encouraged since it is helpful to see my gestures and facial expressions during the instruction. Also, I want to see your smiling face, too!
No. Dial-up does not have a large enough bandwidth for our video-conferencing and support materials needed for the lesson.
Yes, I can provide homework if that is something you want. Sometimes, students have other obligations and do not have time for homework. However, I strongly encourage some homework since this is an excellent way to practice what you have learned in the lesson. Writing English reinforces spoken English and vice versa. Homework is not graded, but we review all homework and your answers in the next lesson.
To cancel or reschedule a lesson, simply contact me at [email protected]. A full refund will be given to any cancelation that was made AT LEAST 4 HOURS prior to our lesson. Any cancelation made between 4 hours prior to our lesson and the time of our lesson will be refunded ONE-HALF of the payment provided. Both of our time is valuable, so it's important the we keep our scheduled lesson times.
